The Team

Alex Wheeler

Alex is a native of Hampton, Virginia.  Although, she and her family moved when she was young to live in North Carolina, she decided to return home to attend school at Hampton University where she studied Molecular Biology and Leadership Studies. Alex has a lifelong passion for K-12 education, equality & equity for all, service within her community and helping others. Alex is a community organizer leading the Small Campaigns division of VA-BLOC (Virginia Black Leadership Organizing Collaborative).  She loves this work because she is able to help people get their rights restored, teach individuals how to advocate for themselves and others, fight for equity for all, and most important, she is able to pour love and support back into the community that helped raise her!

Kellen is an ER nurse, a family man, connoisseur of dad jokes, and an avid outdoorsman from Barboursville, VA, who ran for the Virginia House of Delegates in 2017. As an ER nurse working with his fellow Virginians in times of need, crisis, and worry every day- and seeing the strength and perseverance of his community in the face of their everyday struggles- he was inspired to run for public office. That same inspiration drives him still today; to fight unapologetically for the progressive values that will make life better for working Virginia families.
